Did you test positive in a DOT drug test? don’t worry we can help you

Updated: Jul 27, 2023

If you are a DRIVER and tested positive on a drug test and are prohibited from driving, these are the steps you must follow to be able to drive again:

1. Contact a qualified substance abuse professional (SAP) and undergo an initial evaluation. The SAP will determine the level of treatment and education that you need to overcome your drug problem. The SAP will also monitor your progress and give you a recommendation to return to work. The SAP will give you authorization to take a return-to-duty test.

2. Take a drug test called return-to-duty. This must be sent by a transportation company with a DOT number.

3. If the results are negative, they must be posted on the Clearinghouse to remove the prohibition from your records.

4. The transportation company you work for or for which you work must perform the follow-up tests sent by the substance abuse professional (SAP). These random and unpredictable tests are intended to prevent relapses. If you are required, you must go immediately to take it. If you don't, it is considered a refusal and equivalent to a positive result.

5. Once you complete the entire follow-up plan sent by the substance abuse professional by taking the tests sent, you must report compliance with this in the Clearinghouse to be able to close the violation in the system.

At trucking services and logistic we have all the tools to help you overcome this situation in the following way:

1. We help you create your account in the Clearinghouse.

2. We can recommend substance abuse professionals SAP approved by the DOT throughout the national territory.

3. We send you to take the return-to-duty test at a qualified laboratory and with all DOT requirements.

4. Report on the Clearinghouse of your negative result to be able to remove the driving ban.

5. We help you complete your follow-up tests sent by the SAP until you finish your treatment plan and thus complete the steps and close the violation in the Clearinghouse.
