From May 14 to 16, especially in border states, extensive inspections will be conducted to ensure the safety of drivers and commercial vehicles on U.S. roads. These inspections aim to verify compliance with safety regulations and standards governing the operation of commercial vehicles. Here's everything you need to know.

Areas of Focus:
Each year, the CVSA sets specific areas of focus for the Roadcheck event. In 2024, inspectors will pay special attention to:
Controlled Substance and Alcohol Compliance: Any possession of controlled substances and alcohol by commercial vehicle drivers will be monitored, in strict compliance with federal laws. In addition, enrollment in a drug and alcohol consortium will be verified, and drug test results will be reviewed.
Tractor Protection: Tractor protection systems will be ensured to be in place and working properly to improve vehicle safety.
Anti-Bleed Return Systems: The functionality of bleed backflow systems will be checked to prevent potential safety hazards.
Clearinghouse Emphasis: In the United States, emphasis will be placed on identifying prohibited drivers within the Clearinghouse, which contains records of commercial drivers with prohibitions related to controlled substances and alcohol.
How to Prepare for Roadcheck 2024?
Preparing properly is key to passing inspections smoothly. Make sure your drivers have all the necessary documentation, including:
DOT Medical Card: Interstate drivers must possess an up-to-date medical card, renewed every two years or based on health conditions.
ELD Records: Drivers must maintain accurate records of their duty status and supporting documents to comply with hours-of-service regulations.
CDL Commercial Driver's License: Verifies the validity of the commercial driver's license or driver's permit, including expiration dates, class, endorsements, restrictions, and status.
Clearinghouse Driver Check: Inspectors will check with the Clearinghouse to make sure drivers have no drug and alcohol bans.
Drug and Alcohol Consortium Certificate: Make sure you have a consortium registration certificate on every truck in your company.
Drug test results: Keep a copy of the drug test results for each driver in the truck.
How to avoid violations during the Roadcheck?
Keep DOT medical certificates up to date.
Ensure that ELDs are operational and that drivers are trained to use them.
Regularly check the validity of employees' driver's licenses.
Conduct regular check-ins at the Clearinghouse to check on drivers' status.
Confirm that your drug and alcohol consortium is active and that all drivers are included.
